March: Family History. Work with ward family history specialists, High Priest Group Leaders and parents to help each youth learn HOW to search their own family history using Family Search and HOW to print a name and take it to the temple. Then, attend the temple and preform the ordinances. Visit FAMILY HISTORY CHALLENGE for more information.
April: Clothing. Using the helps and info under CLOTHING HELP tab of this blog, make sure each youth has the proper pioneer clothing to wear on Trek. Parents are ultimately responsible for their youth's clothing. Where a parent is not available, leaders can help. Please share this blog site with them. Remember, there are many people in the wards that know how to sew who would be willing to help even if they don't have a youth going. Also, ask around, there may be clothing available from families who went last time but do not have a youth attending this time, or if you know people from the other stake, or family members from Utah or Idaho; borrowing clothing is a great option! Keep it simple!
May: Buckets and Your Pioneer. Individual wards will provide each youth with a 5-gallon bucket and lid. Each youth will use the bucket for their personal items. The bucket can weigh no more than 17 pounds. The buckets may be plain, or decorated. Each bucket should be labeled with the youth's name clearly written. Visit the BUCKETS tab on the top menu for specifics.
Your Pioneer: Everyone attending Trek will need to research a pioneer from one of the 10 handcart companies to walk for during Trek. If you do not have a pioneer by the time you register, simply request on the online registration form that you'd like the stake committee to provide a pioneer name for you to research. Visit YOUR PIONEER on this blog for information on finding and researching a pioneer.
